Great deal for an excellent all around paddle

I recently picked up a Point 65N Super Tourer in fiberglass. I already own the same paddle in Carbon Fiber. The Carbon Fiber version is an incredible paddle that is designed for long distance touring and is normally used in conjunction with a low angle, relaxed paddle stroke (see the review for more on my view of the Carbon Super Tourer). I loved the Carbon Super Tourer so much I decided to get the fiberglass version to act as a deck spare and as loaner. I needed it to be light, tough, and at a reasonable price. It turns out to be only 2-3 ounces heavier than the Carbon version with a little more flex which may not be ideal for rough water paddling (which demands accuracy) but is actually a plus over a long distance (as it lessens the impact on your body). That being said, I had it out in very rough conditions and it did just fine (almost as well as the Carbon version). I have rolled with it (see my video on YouTube) and it worked just fine in that arena as well.

In the end, as I like the Carbon version more, I would have given this only 4 stars if it weren't for the incredibly great price. For a paddle $299, IMHO, it is the best bang for the buck on the market. Yes, the Carbon version is 10-15% better but at a significantly higher price. So at the end of the day, the Carbon version is for the consummate professional that insists on the best but for almost everyone else I know, this is the perfect balance between high end performance and reasonable affordability. And man do I get a lot complements on how stunning the new Polar version looks. Absolutely no regrets in adding this to my quiver of paddles.
