Thought it would be better

First of all, love the modular aspect, which is what sold us on this kayak. Getting a little older and hefting the ocean tandem up on the roof was getting difficult. We have the Falcon tandem and all 3 sections fit nicely in the back of our 4Runner. That said, the tracking is pretty awful. We only go in the back bays on smooth water and it constantly pulls to one side or other requiring continuous correction. My wife and I have been kayaking for over 35 years so pretty sure we know how, and with our ocean tandem this is never an issue. I wish there was a way to improve this so if anyone out there has any ideas, please let me know. The second issue I have is the lack of handles of the end sections - there's just one on the extreme end of each and no other so it's hard to carry. So all in all 3 stars - 5 for the modular aspect, 1 for the tracking and carrying. (By the way, I waited 2 years to write this to see if things would improve, or if we got used to the tracking but it's the same as when we first got it - at this point we are reverting back to the ocean tandem, hope my shoulders hold up)

Great boat but could use some improvements.

I use this boat constantly and love a lot of things about it! This was the first boat i have purchased after many years of renting and it has more than paid for itself within the first 6 months. Being under 5ft it is the perfect solution for me to be able to float without having to have assistance with a large heavy boat. It's portable, comfortable, tracks decent, and has a locking well that works great even if not at all waterproof.

I have zero regrets with the purchase and can't imagine a boat that would suit me better but there are a few things I would change given the price.
The flat netting back is pretty worthless for storing anything more than a towel or two and an absolute PAIN to get on and off the boat. It was not at all sturdy and ripped quickly. This problem is easily fixable with elastic cord replacement.
One of the brackets to tighten it broke on the first outing and I have yet to be able to order a replacement because they are out of stock. Being one of the key functional pieces they really should be 1. Way way more durable and 2. Always in stock!!!
The foot rests are very narrow. I wear a size 5 US women's and the ledge for your feet to lock in is barely half the width of my foot. This can get very tiresome on long trips and decreases ability to use proper technique to steer. Adjustable foot slides would have been a huge improvement.
It would be nice to have a couple more handles to be able to pick it up when it is broken down. Carrying it on its side is often difficult due to not having a good place to hold onto it. You wind up essentially having to hug the two sides which can be very awkward.

Replacement Falcon center module

The center module of my Falcon developed a split in the weld connecting the upper portion with the lower. Although the yak was out of warranty (by ~ 3 months), the failed center section was replaced at no cost to me by John at Point 65 customer service. Thanks so much.

Lovin’ it.

Sweet little kayak. Easy to transport and put together. Sometimes a little tricky to take apart, but worth that small hassle for the portability. Tracks well in calm water.
